A standout from the renowned Dwarf Tomato Project, Dwarf Purple Heart combines early production, heavy yields, and beautiful color in a compact form. The rugose, regular-leaf plants are vigorous and branching—among the most spreading of the dwarf types—yet remain perfectly suited for containers and smaller gardens.

Fruits are heart-shaped and dusky purple, ranging from 6 to 16 ounces, with rich crimson flesh that’s dense, meaty, and full of that classic old-fashioned flavor. The taste is deep, balanced, and complex, blending sweetness and acidity beautifully. Despite their size, the tomatoes ripen early—around 70 days—and continue producing throughout the season.

Developed from a cross between Dwarf Wild Fred and Brad’s Black Heart, Dwarf Purple Heart was created and named by breeder Vince Lavallo. It’s a variety that proves small plants can still produce truly grand tomatoes.
