Shuhorn Longhorn Pepper Seeds – 10+ Florida Grown Seeds

The Shuhorn Longhorn is a captivating hybrid developed by Matt’s Peppers, resulting from a cross between the Shu Variegated and Thunder Mountain Longhorn varieties. Currently at the F4 generation, this pepper is still stabilizing, which means growers can expect some variability in pod shape, color, and plant characteristics.

Key Features:

  • Appearance: The plants boast variegated foliage, adding ornamental appeal to gardens. The pods are long, slender, and often exhibit striking striped patterns, transitioning from green to bright white and finally to a deep red upon full maturity .
  • Flavor & Heat: While primarily grown for its visual appeal, the Shuhorn Longhorn offers a mild smoky flavor. It has a notable pungency, ranging between 50,000 to 70,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making it suitable for those who appreciate a moderate heat level .
  • Growth Habit: These plants are vigorous and slender, reaching heights between 70 to 90 cm (approximately 28 to 35 inches). They are highly productive, yielding an abundance of fruits throughout the growing season. The compact size makes them suitable for both ground cultivation and container gardening .
