ALIEN METAMORPHOSIS PURPLE PEPPER SEEDS

10+ Organically Grown Seeds — Alien Metamorphos Purple Pepper

Few pepper names fit their appearance quite as well as Alien Metamorphos Purple. Created by Swedish pepper breeder Michael Ekegren of Alien Chili, this extraordinary Capsicum chinense belongs to the larger Alien Metamorphos family, a breeding project Ekegren traces back to an original cross he made in 2016.

Years of continued selection have produced a fascinating family of distinct Metamorphos expressions, including Black, Chocolate, Peachy, Purple and others. Alien Metamorphos Purple is the spectacular purple expression of that breeding work.

The pods alone make this variety worthy of a collector’s garden. Fruits develop unusual, heavily folded and contorted forms with the exaggerated lobes and irregular shapes that give the Metamorphos family its unmistakably alien appearance. The Purple selection adds extraordinary pigmentation, with fruits capable of displaying dramatic purple, violet and darker tones as they develop and mature.

This is also more than an ornamental curiosity. Alien Metamorphos Purple is a Capsicum chinense hot pepper developed as part of an active breeding line, and Ekegren has subsequently used the Purple selection as breeding material in additional Alien Chili crosses.

Because reliable documentation for an official Scoville rating and the original parentage of Alien Metamorphos is limited, we prefer not to assign either without stronger evidence. Likewise, individual fruit appearance can vary, particularly within specialty breeding material such as the Metamorphos family.

For growers who appreciate modern independent pepper breeding, unusual genetics and peppers that look unlike anything found at the grocery store, Alien Metamorphos Purple is a genuine collector’s variety with a documented connection to its original breeder.
