10+ Organically Grown Seeds — Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye Tomato

Some tomatoes are grown for their beauty. Others earn their place in the garden through exceptional flavor. Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye delivers both, combining spectacular metallic green striping with the deep, rich flavor of a classic dark beefsteak tomato.

Developed by renowned tomato breeder Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms in California, Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye is a stabilized selection that originated from an accidental cross discovered in Gates’ tomato fields. Related to the original Berkeley Tie-Dye, this variety has become one of the most celebrated creations in the Wild Boar Farms collection.

The fruits are absolutely stunning. Medium-to-large beefsteaks develop a deep port-wine, burgundy, and dusky pink coloration, decorated with distinctive metallic green stripes that create an almost painted appearance. Slice one open to reveal beautiful, meaty flesh in rich shades of crimson and wine red.

But the real magic is in the flavor. Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye delivers an exceptionally rich, sweet tomato experience with the depth and complexity that makes dark-fruited varieties so desirable. Brad Gates has reported that, in a farmers market taste comparison, all ten participants preferred Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye over the legendary Cherokee Purple.

Individual fruits typically weigh 8–12 ounces, making them ideal for thick sandwich slices, fresh salads, and enjoying straight from the garden. The flesh is substantial and meaty, with excellent old-fashioned tomato flavor.

Plants are compact indeterminate with regular-leaf foliage, offering a somewhat more manageable growth habit than many sprawling beefsteak varieties. Despite their relatively compact stature, the plants can produce impressive harvests of beautifully striped tomatoes.

Another advantage is their relatively early maturity. At approximately 65–75 days from transplanting, Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye can deliver large, richly flavored beefsteaks earlier than many traditional dark tomato varieties.
