10+ Organically Grown Seeds — Tupelo Honey Tomato

A gorgeous new introduction from American breeder Teresa Smith of Terra Nova Tomatoes and Dahlias, Tupelo Honey was released for the 2025 growing season and has quickly earned attention for a rare combination of beauty, productivity, and exceptional flavor.

Tupelo Honey is an indeterminate, regular-leaf tomato with vigorous plants capable of carrying an impressive fruit load. In a documented 2025 grow-out, plants reached approximately 6 feet (1.8 m) in open ground and remained heavily loaded with tomatoes throughout the season. The variety also proved surprisingly early, becoming one of the first varieties to ripen in that particular garden.

She smooth, blemish-resistant beefsteak fruits averaged approximately 6 oz (170 g) and mature to an extraordinary deep butterscotch color. As beautiful as the exterior is, slicing one open reveals the real surprise. The interior develops a striking deep salmon-colored center surrounded by olive to ochre flesh, creating an unusual combination unlike the typical bicolor or tricolor tomato.

And Tupelo Honey isn’t simply another pretty tomato.

The flesh has been described as smooth, juicy, and buttery, with a flavor that begins with a delicious tanginess before transitioning into lingering sweetness. Generous seed cavities filled with flavorful gel add another dimension to the eating experience, producing a complex tomato that balances sweetness and acidity rather than relying on either one alone.

Production may be one of Tupelo Honey’s strongest characteristics. The 2025 grow-out documented exceptionally heavy production throughout the season, both in open ground and from a separate plant grown in a 10-gallon grow bag, suggesting considerable potential for gardeners working with different growing spaces.

For collectors interested in the newest work coming from independent American tomato breeders, Tupelo Honey is exactly the kind of introduction worth watching: unusual coloration, early production, heavy yields, and flavor strong enough to justify growing it for much more than appearance alone.
